【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoverstheevaluationofasbestostextileswithregardto(1)qualityand(2)elevatedtemperatureserviceabilitycharacteristics.Sinceasbestostextilesareusuallycomposedofblendsofasbestoswithcottonorotherorganiccarrierfibers,thelatterbeingpresentinamountsupto25%,temperaturesabove150x00B0;C[300x00B0;F]willpromotethedegradationofthecottoncontentandwillreducethestructuralreinforcementderivedtherefrom.Inthehighergradeasbestostextiles,whereinlittleornocarrierfibersareusedandinwhichthelongerasbestosfibersarenecessaryifasatisfactoryyarnistobeproduced,thedegradationinstrengthresultingfromheat-agingupto540x00B0;C[1000x00B0;F]islow.Inthecaseofthelowergradeasbestostextiles,however,whereinamountsfrom15to25%carrierfibersareincorporated,asbestosfibershavingshorterlengthsmaybeutilized.Undertherelativelylowservicetemperaturestowhichsuchmaterialsmaybesubjected,neitherthecottonnortheclothpropertiesaregreatlyaffected.However,thestrength-impartinginfluenceofthecarrierfibersisreducedatelevatedtemperaturesandtheentwiningpropertiesoftheshorterasbestosfibersprimarilyservetoestablishtheresultanttensilestrengthandotherphysicalpropertiesofthetextile.Inviewofthis,elevatedtemperaturetestsmayservetoindicatetheasbestosfibergradeorqualitythatmaybeusedinatextileconstruction.Anotheruseandperhapsmorepracticalapplicationfortheinformationtobederivedfromelevatedtemperaturestudiesistherevelationoftheabilityofasubjecttextiletowithstandknownelevatedtemperatureserviceconditions.Itwillbeappreciatedthattemperaturealonemaynotbetheonlydegratoryinfluenceinthedestructionofsuchmaterials;however,undernormaloperatingconditions,hightemperaturesareusuallythedominatingfactorsinsuchdegradation.Theresultsobtainedthroughsuchinvestigationsthereforemaybeinterpretedintermsofelevatedtemperatureserviceability.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheheatagingofasbestostextiles.Itmaybeusedtodeterminetheresistancetothedeteriorationoftensilestrengthattemperaturesupto450x00B0;C[800x00B0;F].1.2ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.3Warningx2014;Breathingofasbestosdustishazardous.Asbestosandasbestosproductspresentdemonstratedhealthrisksforusersandforthosewithwhomtheycomeintocontact.Inadditiontootherprecautions,whenworkingwithasbestos-cementproducts,minimizethedustthatresults.Forinformationonthesafeuseofchrysoltileasbestos,refertox201C;SafeUseofChrysotileAsbestos:AManualonPreventiveandControlMeasures.x201D;1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificsafetyhazard,see1.3.
