【摘要】:Theskinnedareasofbaseballandsoftballfieldsshouldprovideauniformplayingsurfaceofhighquality.Ballbounceshouldbetrueandpredictable.Footingandslidingpropertiesshouldfavoroptimumperformanceofplayers.Undulations,roughsurface,hardorsoftsurfaces,weeds,stones,andwetspotsdetractfromgoodplay.Playingsurfacequalityislargelyaffectedbyconstructionandmaintenanceprocedures,andthisstandardguideaddressesthoseprocedures.Whilewarningtracksareatypeofskinnedareafoundonbaseballandsoftballfields,thisstandarddoesnotapplytowarningtracks.Aseparatestandard,GuideF2270,presentsinformationpertainingtowarningtracks.Duringconstruction,considerationshouldbegiventofactorssuchasthephysicalandchemicalpropertiesofmaterialsusedinthearea,freedomfromstonesandotherdebris,andsurfaceandinternaldrainage.Maintenancepracticesthatinfluencetheplayabilityofthesurfaceincludeedging,dragging,rolling,watering,vegetationcontrol,brushingorhosingtopreventbuildupofalipofmineralmatterinturfgrassattheskinned/turfededges,andremovalofstonesanddebristhatmayadverselyaffectplayandsafety.Thoseresponsibleforthedesign,construction,ormaintenance,oracombinationthereof,ofskinnedareasonbaseballandsoftballfieldswillbenefitfromthisguide.Thisguideprovidesflexibilityinchoicesofproceduresandcanbeusedtocoveravarietyofuseandbudgetlevels.1.1Thisguidecoverstechniquesthatareappropriatefortheconstructionandmaintenanceofskinnedareasonbaseballandsoftballfields.Thisguideprovidesguidancefortheselectionofmaterials,suchassoil,sand,gravel,crushedstone,crushedbrick,calcinedclay,calcineddiatomaceousearth,vitrifiedclay,etc.,foruseinconstructingorreconditioningskinnedareasandfortheselectionofmanagementpracticesthatwillmaintainasafeandplayableskinnedsurface.Althoughthisguideisspecifictobaseball/softball,ithasapplicationtoothersportswhereballbounce,ballroll,orplayerfooting,oracombinationthereof,areofimportance.1.2Decisionsinselectingconstructionandmaintenancetechniquesareinfluencedbyexistingsoiltypes,climaticfactors,levelofplay,intensityofuse,equipmentavailable,budget,andtrainingandabilityofmanagementpersonnel.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.1.5Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.TheASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaprojectx2019;smanyuniqueaspects.Thewordx201C;Standardx201D;inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
